Always follow after care instructions suggested from the artist you received your tattoo from
If you are using SANIDERM
I personally suggest keeping it on from 3 to 5 days.
There will be some building up of blood and plasma under the wrap, which is fine.
If it peels off and air reaches into your wrap, or it leaks, remove wrap and take care of your tattoo with the following directions
You will need:
-Unscented Antibacterial Soap
-Tattoo Goo, or unscented alcohol free lotion(aveeno)
-Do not let your family or friends touch your tattoo
-Do not listen to your family or friends aftercare, ask your artist!
-Do not wrap your tattoo. Bacteria will build up, and cause improper healing.
-Wash your tattoo with Unscented Anti-bacterial soap. Scents will irritate your tattoo.
-Do not smother your tattoo with ointments or lotions, use light layers, it must breathe to heal correctly.
-Wear clean clothing and use clean bedding.
-Beware of dust and pet dander; this is the number one problem for tattoos and incorrect healing.
-Always wash your hands when touching your tattoo, this is an open wound.
-Do not let it dry out.
Once you get home, remove any wrap or bandages, unless told otherwise with saniderm
If your using Saniderm, Take off after five days unless it peels off sooner or leaks out, and follow the directions:
do not wrap your tattoo from this point on.
Wash your tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, 4-5 times a day, and dry it with a clean towel, or clean paper towel. Make sure your tattoo does not dry out; apply light thin layers(as if your were putting lotion on your skin, don’t leave it gunky) of Tattoo Goo, Aquaphor, or Aveeno Non-scented lotion, after you wash it 4-5 times a day, or whenever it appears dry. Wash your hands before touching your tattoo. If you take care of your tattoo properly, as directed, your tattoo should heal by 2-3 weeks.
Do not pick, scratch, or peel loose skin or scabs. They’ll come off when ready.
Do not soak your tattoo.
No pools, oceans, lakes, prolonged baths, hot tubs etc.
SHOWERS ARE OKAY, just try to avoid direct hitting on your tattoo for long periods of times.
Your tattoo will leak blood, ink, and plasma, which can stain clothing or sheets. Prevent scabs by washing your tattoo 4-5 times a day to remove plasma.
Washing your tattoo is one of the best things for it.
Do not tan, sunbath, or have direct sunlight while healing. Once healed, to keep your colors vibrant and last longer, use SPF 45 or higher.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact the body art facility where your tattoo was performed.
In addition, you should seek medical attention if the tattoo site becomes infected or painful(reddness, puss, hot to touch), or if you develop a fever shortly after being tattooed.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns! Thank you.
